Portions of a floating bridge lie in the calm, clear water of Hayward Lake with a gap between it and the green, forested shoreline.

It’s Official: Hayward Lake is Getting a New Floating Bridge

08 October 2025

Mission, BC

After more than a decade, it will soon be possible to hike the entirety of the Hayward Lake Loop Trail again.

Work has begun on replacing the floating bridge at Hairsine Inlet, an important piece of infrastructure that connects the Reservoir Trail to the Railway Trail. BC Hydro’s Hairsine Bridge Project completes an 18-kilometre loop around the lake. The bridge was removed in 2012 during seismic upgrades to Ruskin Dam, and replacement plans have been ongoing since 2018.

Read the full project history here.

The bridge is tentatively expected to be open in late November.

Access to the area is restricted while work is ongoing.

Please obey all signage and respect all closures, including on the water.
