Juan de Fuca Trail to Remain Closed Through Summer 2025
April 17, 2025 –
The Juan de Fuca Trail, one of British Columbia’s most popular coastal backpacking routes, will remain closed throughout the 2025 summer season due to severe storm damage.
The trail stretches 47 kilometres along the southwest coast of Vancouver Island in Juan de Fuca Provincial Park. Storms over the autumn and winter caused extensive damage to the trail infrastructure and sections of the path.
A portion of the trail running from China Beach Campground to Mystic Beach remains open, as does access to Sombrio Beach and Botanical Beach. Wilderness campsites Mystic Beach and East Sombrio will be open as of May 15. All other sections, including wilderness campsites, are fully closed. BC Parks has not provided a timeline for when repairs will be completed.
For your safety and to support ongoing restoration work, please respect all closures.
